What You Need to Know

NEW: Epidemiology Data and Notes

As of 6:30 AM Denver Health has 28 COVID-19 Patients, 20 are on the Floor, 8 in the ICU, 5 on a ventilator.

NEW: COVID- 19 Screeners ending December 4

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment has issued clarification for hospitals and clinics regarding the need for COVID-19 symptom screening at entrances. Instead of requiring staff to take temperature and ask about symptoms, the guidance allows screening to be accomplished through posting appropriate signage requiring those who enter to do the following:

· Patients – must notify a member of Denver Health staff on arrival at any of our locations if they have any COVID-19 symptoms.

· Visitors – are not permitted to enter any Denver Health location if they have any COVID-19 symptoms.

· Employees – Please fill out the RedCap Survey.

** Attached signage will be visible across campus in the coming days.

Effective Saturday, December 4, we will no longer have staff performing symptom screening. Instead, Denver health will post one staff member at each of the entrances of Pavilions A and C to ensure we’re adhering to the current tier of our visitor guideline policy.

All other COVID-19 guidelines regarding face masks, social distancing, and reporting symptoms are still in place and must be followed in all areas of the organization. We ask all Denver Health employees help ensure compliance with this policy.

REMINDER: New COVID-19 Testing Process in Place

As part of our long term COVID-19 strategy, we are transitioning to a new workflow designed to improve access and efficiency around COVID-19 testing.

Denver Health is no longer conducting curbside COVID-19 testing as of Monday, November 22. Testing is now offered during primary care visits in our community clinics. Additionally, we are offering COVID-19 testing on our main campus in the new Outpatient Medical Center (OMC) (Pavilion L) Lab.

· Pav L Lab testing hours; 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Mon – Saturday. Sunday will be open for employees and our Urgent Care patients. Patients will be scheduled with a provider and the provider will be ordering the COVID-19 test. Patients may also be screened by a nurse during a nurse visit and have an order placed. PLEASE TRY to schedule these tests as a BILLABLE visit as this will help Denver Health recoup testing costs.

· Here are more details about the testing:

o Every patient must have an order to be tested

o The order will allow the patient to be scheduled in the Pav L lab

o No walk-in patients will be accepted

o Patients may also self-schedule in MyChart once an order is placed or can schedule through the appointment center

o Patients will park in the OMC parking garage and walk into Pav L for the test

o Patients will be permitted in by the screeners

o All patients must wear a mask as per current policy

o Employees with symptoms or concerns for exposure should continue to fill out the RedCap survey to be tested

REMINDER: Pre-procedure Testing Policy

Denver Health is scaling back our pre-procedure tests due to current constraints in national testing supplies. We have tried to find a balance to accomplish our goal of better managing staff time and limited resources, along with the health and safety needs of our medical teams and patients.

The below policy, approved through Incident Command, is now in effect:

1) Pre-procedure tests indicated if symptomatic (regardless of vaccination status)

a. If positive and elective, delay procedures x 10 days

b. If positive and urgent/emergent, use N95 and perform procedures and leave door closed x 1 hour

c. If negative, proceed with medical mask and no room closure after procedure

2) No pre-procedure test for asymptomatic unvaccinated

a. Use N95 but no room closure after procedure

3) No pre-procedure test for asymptomatic vaccinated

a. Use medical mask
