Subject: Quarantine Instructions for Exempt Employees
Dear Managers and Supervisors,
Today, employees who received either a religious or medical exemption for the COVID-19 Vaccination series received the following email (see below) guiding them on appropriate quarantine steps should they have direct contact with someone who is positive for COVID-19. As managers and supervisors we would like you to be aware of the requirements for your employees to properly quarantine before coming back to work. As guidance continues to come from the state on the proper protocols for exempt employees we will continue to keep you informed.
Please see email below and if you have specific questions please email COVIDINFO@dhha.org.
You are receiving this email because you have been granted an exemption from the COVID-19 vaccine mandate. In order to stay in compliance with Denver Health’s requirements for unvaccinated employees we will continue to update you on guidance.
If you have questions about the requirements that apply to individuals who are exempt from receiving the COVID-19 vaccine, you can (1) ask your supervisor, (2) ask the Vaccination Committee at COVIDinfo@dhha.org with the subject line “Unvaccinated employee question”, or (3) visit: Denver Health Staff Masking Policy FAQ | Denver Health COVID-19 Help Center.
As of August 27, 2021, Denver Health is requiring universal masking. This means that masking is required in all hospital, clinical and non-clinical buildings. This requirement applies in all patient and non-patient facing areas and common areas where people congregate.
Additionally, because you are at increased risk of contracting COVID-19, you will be required to quarantine after a significant exposure to the COVID-19 virus. A significant exposure is defined as having at least 15 minutes of unmasked contact within six (6) feet of someone who is diagnosed with COVID-19 while they are considered infectious.
Stay home for 14 days after your last contact with a person who has COVID-19.
Watch for fever (100.4◦F), cough, shortness of breath, or other symptoms of COVID-19.
If possible, stay away from people you live with, especially people who are at higher risk for getting very sick from COVID-19.
You can shorten your quarantine with a negative COVID PCR test (must occur on day 5 or later after exposure)
The federal government and the State of Colorado have not yet determined if routine testing is required for employees who remain unvaccinated for COVID-19. Denver Health employees who are unvaccinated will be expected follow these guidelines when they are released.
Failure to fully comply with Denver Health masking and testing guidelines can result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
