Return to COVID Testing for All Admitted Patients

As of September 3, Denver Health resumed COVID-19 testing of all patients being admitted to the hospital, regardless of vaccination status. Our goal is to identify and isolate patients with asymptomatic or minimally symptomatic infection early in their hospital stay to minimize exposure to employees and other patients. This step is being taken due to the widespread transmission of the Delta variant in the community to increase staff, patient and visitor safety.

Please note two exceptions to this policy. The first exception is patients with a positive test within the last 10 days should not be retested and should be admitted with Specialized Respiratory Isolation (SRI). The second is asymptomatic patients with a positive test 10-90 days ago should not be retested and do not require SRI.
