REMINDER: CDC Updates Guidelines for People Who Are Fully Vaccinated

COVID-19 vaccines are effective at protecting you from getting sick, as well as effective in decreasing asymptomatic virus shedding. Based on what we know about COVID-19 vaccines, the CDC has updated guidance that people who have been fully vaccinated can start to do some things that they had stopped doing because of the pandemic such as socializing with other vaccinated individuals indoors. However, Colorado is still under a state mandate to wear masks and therefore we cannot remove the mask requirement at Denver Health. Denver Health is looking into how the CDC guidelines can be adopted at our facility in the coming weeks.

When in public, we recommend that all individuals, even those who are fully vaccinated, keep taking precautions in public places like wearing a mask, staying 6 feet apart from others, and avoiding crowds and poorly ventilated spaces.

People are considered fully vaccinated:

· 2 weeks after their second dose in a 2-dose series, like the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, or

· 2 weeks after a single-dose vaccine, like Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine

If it has been less than 2 weeks since your shot, or if you still need to get your second dose, you are NOT fully protected. Keep taking all prevention steps until you are fully vaccinated.

REMINDER: Inpatient COVID-19 Vaccination
Effective on Monday, March 8, inpatient COVID-19 vaccinations will shift to use of the Johnson & Johnson (J&J) vaccine. The primary rationale for this switch lies in the need for only a single-dose to complete this vaccine regimen, greatly simplifying the process for inpatients. While there are differences between the three currently available COVID-19 vaccines, all have demonstrated extremely high levels of protection against COVID-19 related hospitalization and death. An FAQ with more detailed descriptions and comparisons can be found HERE. Provided we continue to have supply of the J&J vaccine, we will not be using other vaccines for inpatients.

REMINDER: Vaccine Tickets for New Employees
New employees who are interested in receiving the COVID-19 vaccine may request an appointment order by emailing the COVID_vaccine@dhha.org inbox from their Denver Health email. As vaccine inventory allows, we are sending invitations to employees for scheduling into available appointments.

REMINDER: Dates Available for RISE Group Support for Grief & Loss
March represents an anniversary. One year ago, Denver Health’s Incident Command was launched, we entered lockdown here in Colorado, and our lives both personally and professionally were drastically altered. And across this year, many of us have been navigating various forms of loss, including, but not limited to the death of loved ones and colleagues, the “normalcy” of the rhythm of our lives, dreams and expectations, connection to family and friends. RISE Group Support can provide an emotionally safe space to discuss the ways in which we are impacted. All Denver Health personnel (clinical and nonclinical, patient-facing and non-patient facing, trainees and employees, contractors and volunteers) are welcome and group content is confidential. Please register in advance. Links are provided below. Alternatively, you may email dhrise@dhha.org with a request to be registered.
