What You Need to Know
As of 6:30 a.m. today, Denver Health had 37 inpatient COVID-19 cases (-1 from yesterday).
For more information, please visit the Denver Public Health COVID-19 Data Summary (please use Edge or Chrome). The website is updated daily and contains data on cases, hospitalization, deaths, testing and symptom monitoring.

- 3,277 employees and residents have scheduled their second dose of vaccine.
- 1,286 employees and residents are on the upcoming schedules for first doses.

NEW: PPE Inventory Update
Core Covid PPE inventory levels continue to hold steady given the uptick in inpatient cases last week. We have received additional safety stock in both our Gloves and N95 categories and are actively sourcing Disposable Isolation Gowns. From the inventory standpoint, perhaps most importantly, we have, on average, over 6000 reusable isolation gowns onsite on any given day. Looking into the future, we will be moving to a different make and model of face shields on offer at the screening tables.
NEW: PPE Quality and Quantity Feedback
As we have seen throughout our Covid response, the marketplace has been interrupted and depleted which has led to the use of substitutes for common products. All substitute items, PPE included, undergoes review before being introduced for staff use. ICC_Logistics would ask, if you or your department have any questions or concerns about the quality or quantity of your PPE, please, reach out to ICC_Logistics@dhha.org. If you are reporting an issue please look to capture Lot #’s from packaging, and save any defects. We want your input—early and often. And know this—on a daily basis, the Logistics team is actively pursuing high quality, high value substitutes to keep us well stocked and stable for whatever may come next. We rely on our clinical staff to provide feedback—good, bad, or otherwise.
REMINDER: MyChart Vaccine Location Update
MyChart is updating the location options for scheduling vaccines to indicate that Pavilion C is for Denver Health staff only. Please note, this includes all Denver Health workers, residents, contractors, volunteers, etc. All Denver Health patients should be directed to one of the ACS locations to schedule their vaccine.
REMINDER: COVID-19 Vaccine Information/FAQ’s for Staff and Patients
Frequently updated FAQs on safety, efficacy and roll out of vaccines both to staff and to patients can always be found at the bottom of each huddle sheet. These can be shared internally and to patients who have questions.
Staff have received several questions regarding breastfeeding mothers/pregnant women and vaccine safety. Please look to the FAQs for answers to these questions.

REMINDER: Updates Regarding 2nd Vaccine Dose Timing, Appointment Availability and how to Reschedule if Needed
The mRNA COVID vaccines require two doses. It is currently recommended to receive the second dose of the Pfizer vaccine about 21 days after the first, or within a window of 17 – 25 days (previous recommendation was 17 – 21 days). However, if your schedule or appointment availability do not fit that timeframe, please schedule the second dose after 25 days (or as near to that as possible). There is no evidence that receipt of the vaccine after 25 days will reduce its effectiveness.
Similarly, for the Moderna vaccine, it is currently recommended to receive the second dose of vaccine about 28 days after the first, or within a window of 24 – 32 days. If needed, you could get the second dose after day 32. While the timeframe is important, it is most critical to receive the second dose to get the best protection possible.
Also, more appointment slots have been added for the weeks of January 4th and January 11th to accommodate the need for second doses. If you have not already done so, please schedule your second dose via your MyChart account (MyChart.DenverHealth.org). If you were previously unable to schedule your second dose within the recommended 17 – 25 day window, instructions on how to reschedule your appointment can be found here. We have also attached the instructions to this Huddle Sheet for you to print out, post or share with your staff.
